CUF joins European consortium for training in Oncology
CUF, through the CUF Academic Centre, is part of INTERACT-EUROPE 100, a consortium led by the European Cancer Organisation, which brings together 38 health and education institutions from 15 countries to implement a multidisciplinary cancer training programme across Europe.
CUF, the only Portuguese entity in this consortium, will be part of a network of professionals committed to building a European multidisciplinary training programme for cancer, promoting a patient-centred approach aimed at improving the quality of healthcare.
The activities are aimed at specialists in Medical Oncology, General Surgery, Radiotherapy, Cancer Nursing and other areas dedicated to the treatment of cancer, for the development of a training programme that places close collaboration between clinical teams of different specialities at its centre, in order to improve the follow-up and treatment of people with cancer. This programme also promotes teamwork through in-depth knowledge of the roles of each of the professionals, as well as common objectives. It allows them to acquire valuable learning to apply in the day-to-day care of cancer patients, considering their real needs.
In order to improve the provision of healthcare to people with cancer, this project allows for the sharing of best practices and the establishment of a European multidisciplinary training network in Oncology, of which the CUF Academic Centre forms part.
